Inflatable dove – Hamburg Elbphilharmonie

We have delivered an inflatable pigeon to the association HALLO: Verein zur Förderung raumöffnender Kultur e.V.. The pigeon was set up on 23.5.2019 in front of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and will be presented there as part of the Hallo! festival in cooperation with the international music festival in Hamburg. The pigeon is illuminated and equipped with loudspeakers.

Reason for the dove of the artist Daniel Dominguez Teruel:

“Therefore, with his “Requiem for Architecture”, he now takes up the lance for the rejected pigeons at the Elbphilharmonie, possibly also for the pigeon creature itself. His thesis: neither clinker nor glass nor concrete will survive long, but the grey city dwellers of the air will. If they were simply allowed to fly up mercifully, even nest here, they would only accelerate the decay process of the Elbphilharmonie, inevitably one way or the other, by virtue of their excretions.

Dominguez Teruel now dedicates a funeral mass to it, so that everyone may remember that even the highest flying architecture does not last forever. “The artist’s dovecot – cooing a requiem – will anticipate the decay of this building…” “…
